Throwback Sunday
29 December 2024
God loves teens and tweens. He hasn’t given up on this generation. He believes that the students of our area can live sold out and set apart lives for Him. At Central, we feel the same way. It’s our ambition to offer a student ministry that focuses on seeing young people embrace the Gospel. It’s our passion to see Jesus Christ transform young people. It’s our desire to see students all in for God. In Matthew 5:13-16, Jesus gives us two metaphors that His followers are to be in this world—salt & light, and that applies to teenagers. We believe that with God’s strength, students can live counter-cultural in the 21st century by being salt of the earth and light of the world.
The Bible is for teens. It’s not over their heads or too outdated for their taste. In our 9am Sunday morning Bible studies, young people are given the opportunity to study God’s Word with a group of their peers and adult leaders. They discuss what they’ve learned and discover for themselves how this book should transform them. But make no mistake; boredom is for the school classroom, not our Student Center. Because the Bible is exciting, this hour is too.
Sunday night student meetings are fun. They’re exciting. They’re crazy. But most importantly they are a time to focus on God. With a worship style that fits this generation and Biblical preaching that speaks directly to them, Sunday Night Live in the Student Center is a powerful event at Central.
Beyond our regular weekly meetings, the student ministry of Central Baptist Church is always active. Giving teens the chance to hang out, serve, see the world, and worship God is important to us so we plan camps, retreats, mission trips, and exciting events on a regular basis.
Our student ministry team is made up of adults who have a God given love for students. Why else would anyone serve in this ministry? We love teens and are passionate about seeing God work in their lives. And they are even more passionate about God Himself. They are focused on growing closer to Him, enabling them to minister to the next generation.
Plain Brew Coffee House is an after school hang out for all middle and high school students. On Sundays from 3:00-5:00 and Wednesdays 3:00-6:00pm.
